Basildon Mews House

Basildon Mews House

Our Challenge:

The house built in the late 1970’s, was in reasonable condition and consisted of 4 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, cloakroom, living and dining rooms, kitchen/dining space and utility room. The décor and layout were poor, lacking cohesive feel. A major part of the brief was to work with the clients to bring the kitchens and bathrooms up to standard creating a cohesive feel and to do this for a very tight budget.

Solution:

A great deal of the design work and project costing (6 months for this stage), prior to work on site, was taken up with achieving the budget of less than £60,000. This was achieved by being extremely creative with the designs by using pre existing furniture and updating where appropriate and feasible. Items from discount retailers as well as trade suppliers.

The house now flows, with each room complementing the other. It is chic, yet still a very inviting and comfortable family home. Not only were Emile’s designs exceptional, but his enthusiasm and commitment were faultless.

INTERIOR DESIGN SERVICES PROVIDED:

  • Layout Planning
  • Design Schemes and decoration
  • Furnishings sourcing
  • Lighting Design
  • Bespoke cabinetry design
  • Window Treatments
  • Project Management

The lighting was co-ordinated throughout using matching wall and light fixtures. Energy saving bulbs were specified throughout. In addition sockets were added to remove the unsightly and dangerous extension leads, which littered the house. The flooring was addressed throughout with FSC certified wood on the ground floor, marmoleum in the utility room and British wool carpets on the stairs and first floor. The colours and decoration were co-ordinated throughout.

The success of the project can be summed up by the client feedback “I am over the moon with the house, and my family thought it looks absolutely fantastic. I now get a deep sense of satisfaction and feel calmer when I walk through the front door.”

We called upon Emile to help us transform our home as the fittings, furniture and decor were tired and dated. We lacked the vision and indeed the time to take on and manage this large project ourselves. This was a major renovation project encompassing most of our home (lounge, dining room, 3 bathrooms, large kitchen, large utility room, hall stairs and landing and 2 of the bedrooms). After an initial 2-hour consultation I was convinced that Emile ‘got’ us, what we were aiming for and a real sense of the colours and style of decor and furnishings that would reflect our personalities.

Emile has worked magic on our house, nothing short of. His eye for design is second to none, and everyone who has seen the results has commented on the ‘wow’ factor. The house now flows, with each room complementing the other. It is chic, yet still a very inviting and comfortable family home. Not only were Emile’s designs exceptional, but his enthusiasm and commitment were faultless.

The team of builders, decorators, plumber and electrician that carried out the work were reliable, friendly, highly skilled and open and responsive to any feedback and suggestions we had. Any project hitches (and there will be some in any project of this scale and nature) were handled proactively, promptly and professionally by Emile and his team. So saying, the work was completed within the 7-week project schedule timeline. I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Emile and would certainly use him again for any such design and refurbishment work.
