Interior Design NorwichIf differing colour views are stopping your bedroom from becoming a place of peace and serenity, it’s time to get back to basics,

Mutual affection

A neutral colour scheme is a wonderful starting point for a bedroom, especially one that needs to cater to both feminine and masculine styles. You can either go for a cool neutral for a crisp, fresh feel or a warm neutral for a cosy atmosphere. Elevate the luxe factor with a feature wall you both love, as an interior designer, I always suggest you mix in both, and add texture and warmth with fabrics and wall coverings to give that individual and timeless appeal.

Eliminate space squabbles with carefully defined storage areas. You and your partner with inevitably have different space needs and determining theses early on in the decorating process will make for smoother sailing in the future. Zone out your separate spaces using decorative lamps or mirrors, and even individual bedside tables to reflect your personalities. Make sure you tie the scheme together with common factors and this will work for you.

Colour confidence

If the very thought of concentrated colour sends you into a tailspin, forget the bright hues and concentrate on adding spark with a more considered colour palette. Wether you feel more comfortable surrounded by more muted shades like powder blue, rose and sage or feel vivified in the presence of sweet pastels like lemon, lilac and mint, the secret of colour confidence and flow throughout a room or the house is choosing a palette of two or three colours and complementary shades and sticking to them. Add interest with textures and wall coverings and fabrics.

Accessorise

Make sure you balance your chosen wall and furniture colours with similarly hues accessories. The key is to choose a few items within your chosen palette of colours, patterned cushions, wall coverings, fabrics, and rugs. This will help to create a cohesive colour scheme and anchor the whole look together. For more help and assistance please contact Emile or Simon in London or Norwich.
